Understanding 3D Movies

Call of the Wild, by Gold Rush Entertainment, is a 3D remake of Jack London's famous story. This film, with executive producer Eric Gozlan, is an interesting foray into the world of 3D.

What exactly is 3D? It refers to something that seems to have width, height and depth. Usually, when you watch a film, it has just width and height. Here, there is perceived depth. The way that it is done is actually a trick on the eyes. The brain is made to believe that there is depth, when in reality there isn't any depth.

While most people think that 3D is a new invention, the original 3D movie was actually from 1922! The film was called The Power of Love. Obviously, 3D has come a long way since then!

What's an Indie Film?

Recently, “Beautiful Boy” wrapped its filming and production. This film, produced by Eric Gozlan of Gold Rush Entertainment and by Lee Clay, is classified as an indie film. What does this mean? The indie movie is an independent project that is not backed by a major studio.

This status often offers a number of benefits. The themes explored in an indie film are often controversial ones that wouldn’t pass muster with the major studios. You’ll often see experimental, and interesting, filming techniques and controversial subjects with indie films. Usually, in an indie film, the director and crew have complete artistic control over the production.

Indie films also offer opportunities to actors and directors who might not otherwise get a break. “Beautiful Boy” introduces the directorial debut of actor Shawn Ku.

Understanding Executive Producers

Certainly, most of us enjoy going to the movies or watching movies at home. We often don’t realize, however, just how much goes into the production of the movie. When you look at the credits from the movie, you realize just how many people and how much energy goes into making each movie.

In 2008 alone, for instance, Eric Gozlan was the executive producer of “Burning Mussolini” for Gold Rush Entertainment. Executive producers are in charge of obtaining the money for the filming of the movie. They manage all of the relationships as well. These include business relationships with the financiers, distributors, marketers and more. It also includes hiring the producer, the director and the writer.

In addition, the executive producer, such as Eric Gozlan, is responsible for making sure that the project finishes on time and that it stays within budget. It is quite a task that they are assigned!

Due for release in February 2010 is Eric Gozlan’s fifth feature film, Beauty and the Beast. Starring Estella Warren as Belle, Victor Parascos as the Beast, Venessa Gray as Lady Helen and Rhett Giles in the role of Count Rudolph, Beauty and the Beast is places a “dark twist” on the famous tale of forbidden love between the reclusive, mysterious beast and the stunning beautiful, but individualistic beauty, Belle.

Produced by Eric Gozlan, Beauty and the Beast was directed by David Lister and based on the well-known fairy tale told over the centuries but originally collected by the Brothers Grimm. Expect a surprising plot twist to this very special re-telling.
